Burnley Eyes Wales Boss Bellamy as New Manager

Burnley have intensified their pursuit of Wales head coach Craig Bellamy as they search for a replacement for Scott Parker. The Championship club has reached out to the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to discuss a potential move, though no agreement has been reached and compensation would need to be negotiated.

Bellamy, 46, previously worked under Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor, helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League in 2023. He briefly served as acting head coach after Kompany's departure to Bayern Munich in 2024. The former Wales forward has two years remaining on his contract with the FAW, but could now leave his role early.

Burnley have been without a manager since Parker left by mutual consent in April, shortly after the club's relegation from the Premier League was confirmed. Bellamy was quickly identified as a leading candidate.

Prior to Wales' June friendlies against Ghana and Romania, Bellamy acknowledged interest from club level but reaffirmed his commitment to Wales. "Everything's in place, I get completely backed and it's going to give me the opportunity in the next two years to improve again," he said. "Links? I understand it but I don't look too far. I love what I have here."

FAW bosses had previously expressed confidence that Bellamy would see out his contract, which runs until after Euro 2028. However, Burnley's approach could test that resolve.
