Corey Feldman was notably absent from the premiere of the Michael Jackson biopic "Michael" on April 20, and now his team says it was all a misunderstanding.
According to a representative for Feldman, the actor received an invitation about a month before the event. However, his manager, dealing with a personal issue, mistakenly thought Feldman's attendance was confirmed when in fact they needed to actively request a spot on the guest list.
When Feldman's team followed up just before the premiere, organizers informed them that the actor was never officially confirmed, and the event had already reached maximum capacity, making it impossible to add him.
A source close to the situation told TMZ that attempts were made to reach Feldman for a ticket, but his response came too late.
Despite the mix-up, Feldman's rep says the star is taking it in stride, believing everything happens for a reason and it was probably for the best. The actor has little interest in seeing a fictionalized version of Jackson anyway, as he lived the real story growing up with the pop icon in the 1980s.
Feldman has been a longtime friend and defender of Jackson, although the two had a falling out later in life. The actor recently showed off some MJ-inspired dance moves while performing to Billy Joel's "It's Still Rock & Roll to Me."
Lionsgate, the studio behind the film, has not yet responded to requests for comment.
