Croft's Four-Try Masterclass Propels Leeds Rhinos to Super League Summit

Brodie Croft delivered a career-defining performance, scoring four tries to lead Leeds Rhinos to a commanding 56-22 victory over Huddersfield Giants, sending his team to the top of the Betfred Super League table.

In a stunning display at the Accu Stadium, the Australian stand-off—who had never before scored a senior hat-trick—torched a ragged Huddersfield defence as the Rhinos ran in ten tries total. The win marks Leeds' third consecutive victory and halts the Giants' own brief revival after they had secured their first two wins of the season.

"The Rhinos were irrepressible, completing their sets, moving the ball swiftly and threatening on every attack," noted observers, as Huddersfield missed a staggering 51 tackles on the night.

The match began with a shock for the visitors. After a sloppy Leeds kick-off, Huddersfield's George King powered over for his first try of the season after just 62 seconds, sending the home crowd into early jubilation.

That joy was short-lived. Leeds responded with a devastating five-try blitz before halftime to seize complete control. Croft opened his account, followed by scores from Jarrod O'Connor, Jack Bird, veteran winger Ryan Hall—who notched his 250th try in a Leeds shirt—and Lachie Miller.

Huddersfield's woes were compounded by injuries. Sam Halsall, returning from a six-week hamstring layoff, was forced off after just 16 minutes with a calf problem. Later, Taane Milne automatically failed a head injury assessment for not wearing a mandatory mouthguard after being hurt in the build-up to Jacob Douglas's lone first-half try for the Giants.

The second half was a procession. Cam Smith crossed early, and a pinpoint 40/20 kick from Jake Connor—who also slotted eight conversions—set up Croft for his second. The stand-off completed his hat-trick just three minutes later.

A consolation try from Jacob Gagai, his fourth in five games, offered brief respite for the forlorn home supporters. But Leeds quickly resumed their dominance, with league-leading try-scorer Maika Sivo grabbing his 15th of the campaign before Croft capped his magnificent night with a dazzling step and scamper for his fourth.

The result lifts Leeds above St Helens to the Super League summit on points difference, while Huddersfield remain mired in 11th place.
