Hawks Guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker Voted NBA's Most Improved Player

Atlanta Hawks guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been named the NBA's Most Improved Player for the 2024-25 season, the league announced on Tuesday. The 26-year-old Canadian made a significant leap in his sixth professional season, averaging career highs in points, assists, and rebounds while becoming a key contributor for the Hawks.

Alexander-Walker's averages rose to 18.7 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game, up from 11.2 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.9 rebounds the previous year. His shooting efficiency also improved, with a true shooting percentage of 58.2%.

"I'm grateful for this recognition, but it's a team award," Alexander-Walker said in a statement. "My coaches and teammates believed in me and put me in positions to succeed. I just tried to get better every day."

The award is voted on by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Alexander-Walker received 78 first-place votes and finished with 486 points, ahead of second-place finisher Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers (35 first-place votes, 242 points).
