When it comes to parenting their shared children, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, and Miranda Kerr have mastered the art of putting kids first. The key, as Kerr explained at a recent Earth Day event, is simple: "Put the needs of the child first."
Kerr, who shares 15-year-old Flynn with Bloom, emphasized that this principle has guided them since day one. "That's so important to think about—is this in the best interest for the child?" she said. "And that's helped navigate so many challenging situations."
The trio—which also includes Daisy, Bloom's 5-year-old daughter with Perry—has created a harmonious dynamic. Kerr recalled that when Bloom began dating Perry in 2016, she instantly felt a connection. "We just clicked instantly, like we had been friends before," Kerr said. "From day one, when Orlando and I separated, we have been very close, really good friends."
Kerr and her husband Evan Spiegel also get along well with Perry and Bloom. "It's such a blessing," Kerr noted. "It doesn't need to be any other way."
The model admitted that after her split from Bloom, she was initially too accommodating. But with Spiegel's support, she learned to set boundaries. "My husband has good boundaries," she said. "Now I can say, 'I'm sorry your plans changed, but we planned according to this.'"
Bloom and Perry, who called off their engagement last summer, continue to co-parent amicably. A spokesperson previously stated, "Their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect." They've been seen on family trips together, and Bloom even joked about Perry's rumored romance with Justin Trudeau.
As Kerr summed up, "We're one big happy family." After all, when you prioritize the children, everything else falls into place.
