Rapper Kodak Black surrendered to authorities in Florida on Thursday, facing charges of fleeing or eluding law enforcement and resisting an officer without violence, according to Broward County jail records.
The 28-year-old musician was booked with bond set at $0, and both charges are listed as pending trial. His attorney, Bradford Cohen, stated that the surrender was expected, calling the allegations "unfounded" and suggesting his client is being unfairly targeted.
"This is a self surrender from yet another 'investigation' that just happened to also take 5 months to 'investigate' for allegedly fleeing and eluding," Cohen said in a statement. "It's not unexpected, as this is usually the procedure we go through where there is an unfounded weak arrest and then followed up by yet another arrest for cases that allegedly take 5 or 6 months to investigate. At this point I think everyone agrees that Kodak is consistently being targeted."
Thursday's arrest comes just a week after Kodak Black was arrested on drug trafficking charges in Orange County. Police alleged they found more than 25 grams of MDMA after responding to reports of gunfire and discovering two idling vehicles with Kodak nearby. He posted $75,000 bail and was ordered to avoid drugs, certain associates, and firearms while that case proceeds.
Cohen previously dismissed the drug case as a "total joke," arguing police lacked probable cause.
