Largest Known Personal Pokémon Card Collection Divulged: 60,000 Rare Cards Raise Questions

A private collection of Pokémon cards has come to light, boasting over 60,000 rare specimens that include multiple copies of the legendary Pikachu Illustrator and shadowless base set Charizard. Known as the Jolina Gisèle collection, its sheer size and composition have stunned collectors and raised eyebrows about how such an assembly was achieved.

The collection, which includes some of the most sought-after cards in existence, is unprecedented in both scope and rarity. Among the highlights are several copies of the Pikachu Illustrator, a card originally given only to winners of a 1998 illustration contest, of which only about 39 copies are known to exist.

Also present are numerous shadowless base set Charizards, another holy grail for collectors. The shadowless print run was a very early production error corrected quickly, making these cards exceptionally scarce.

How one individual amassed such a trove remains a mystery, fueling speculation about access to exclusive sources or decades of dedicated searching. The collection's existence challenges previous assumptions about the number of ultra-rare cards still in circulation.

For now, the Jolina Gisèle collection stands as a monument to Pokémon card history—and a puzzle for the collecting community.
