Leicester City's Fall from Grace: Fans Protest as Owner Apologizes After Relegation to League One

Leicester City supporters gathered outside King Power Stadium to voice their frustration following the club's relegation to League One, marking a dramatic fall from their Premier League title triumph just a decade ago.

Fans expressed their discontent with chants calling for owner Khun Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha to sell the club and for chief football officer Jon Rudkin to depart. The atmosphere was somber, with many empty seats visible during the 2-2 draw with Hull City that sealed Leicester's fate.

Khun Top issued a public apology, stating:

"Responsibility sits with me. We have experienced the highest highs and now the lowest lows, and the pain is shared by all of us. I am truly sorry for the disappointment we have caused."

He acknowledged the fans' anger and promised "necessary decisions" to rebuild the club.

Manager Gary Rowett, who took over in February with 14 games remaining, saw his team relegated after just 12 matches. Leicester had already been penalized with a six-point deduction for historical spending breaches before his arrival.

Rowett told BBC Radio Leicester:

"I will be the first to hold myself accountable for the part I played in this relegation."

This marks Leicester's third relegation in four years, with Rowett becoming the sixth permanent manager involved in these demotions since Brendan Rodgers' departure after the FA Cup victory in 2021.
