Livingston's return to the Scottish Premiership has lasted only one season after Kilmarnock's 3-0 victory over Dundee United confirmed their relegation. The result leaves Marvin Bartley's side 10 points adrift at the bottom with just three games remaining.
Livingston had briefly kept their slim survival hopes alive with a 2-0 win against St Mirren last weekend—only their second league victory of the campaign and first since August. However, a 2-2 draw with Aberdeen on Friday meant they needed Dundee United to take points off Kilmarnock to stay in contention.
The club, which spent six consecutive seasons in the Premiership before being relegated two years ago, earned promotion last season by finishing second in the Championship and defeating Ross County in the play-off final. This season, they made a managerial change in February, promoting assistant Bartley to head coach while David Martindale moved to sporting director. Under Bartley, Livingston lost only four of 11 games but managed just one win.
Livingston's relegation marks a swift fall after a brief top-flight return.
