Post Malone has pushed back the opening of his Big Ass Stadium Tour Part 2 by more than three weeks, canceling six planned shows to complete his upcoming double album, The Eternal Buzz.
In an Instagram Stories post on May 1, the 30-year-old singer explained that the original schedule didn't allow enough time to finish the music he had promised fans. "Truth is, I promised y’all beautiful people new music, and I don't have the time to finish it before tour starts," he wrote. "We ain't ready for tour just yet, so I'm making the decision to push the tour back about 3 weeks to get this music done."
The tour was originally set to begin May 13 in El Paso, Texas, but will now launch June 9 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Cancelled stops include shows in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida. The artist did not announce whether replacement dates would be added for those cities.
Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, apologized directly to ticket holders for the affected shows: "I'm so sorry to the folks who were planning on coming to the few canceled shows. I was looking forward to going nuts with y'all."
The Grammy nominee teased that the delay will be worth it, revealing that the seventh studio album will be a double album featuring 40 tracks. "We've been making some badass s--t for this double album," he said, "and I can't wait to perform for y'all again."
The Big Ass Stadium Tour Part 2 will include appearances from Jelly Roll. Post also reassured older fans that he hasn't forgotten his debut album Stoney, ending his message on a positive note: "I love you, and can't wait to see you crazy motherf--kers soon."
