Real Zaragoza Goalkeeper Handed 13-Game Ban for Punching Opponent

Esteban Andrada, the Real Zaragoza goalkeeper, has been suspended for 13 matches following a violent incident in which he punched a Huesca player during a heated Segunda División derby.

The Argentine received a second yellow card in stoppage time of Sunday's match, which ended in a 1-0 loss for Zaragoza. After being sent off, Andrada charged at Huesca captain Jorge Pulido and struck him in the face, sparking a mass brawl that led to the dismissals of Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jiménez and Zaragoza's Dani Tasende.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) imposed a 12-game ban specifically for the punch, in addition to the automatic one-match suspension for the red card. The RFEF's report described Andrada as "running and jumping" toward Pulido "violently and aggressively" and using "excessive force," justifying the maximum penalty. Both Andrada and Real Zaragoza also face financial fines.

Andrada, 35, apologized after the game, saying, "I'm very, very sorry for what happened. It's not a good image for the club, for the fans, and especially not for a professional like myself. I also want to apologize to Jorge Pulido because we are colleagues, and honestly, it was my fault. I lost focus at that moment."

Real Zaragoza issued a statement condemning the incident and promising "appropriate disciplinary measures." The club remains in the relegation zone alongside Huesca after the defeat.
