Ryan Wintle has confirmed he will leave Cardiff City this summer, describing the decision as "completely out of my control."
The 28-year-old midfielder, who joined the Bluebirds as a free agent from Crewe Alexandra in June 2021, is out of contract and announced his departure on social media. Cardiff later confirmed the move, wishing Wintle well.
A fan favorite and the club's player of the year, Wintle made 46 appearances this season, scoring once, as Cardiff secured an immediate return to the Championship after one year in League One.
"I'm gutted to be writing this post, but unfortunately the time has come for me to say goodbye to Cardiff City, a decision that was completely out of my control," Wintle wrote.
"I've loved my five years at the club and have been lucky enough to meet and work with some truly terrific people along the way. I just want to say a massive thank you to my teammates, coaches, staff, and especially the fans for all the support you've shown me throughout my time here. It's been an absolute pleasure to represent this club. This city will always hold a massive place in my heart, especially having started my family here."
Wintle's exit comes as full-back Perry Ng signed a new contract this week, while Joel Bagan remains the only other first-team player with an expiring deal.
