Jimmy Fowlie, a writer for Saturday Night Live, has announced that his missing sister has been found dead, and the Los Angeles Police Department is now investigating her death as a homicide.
Christina Lynn Downer had been missing for months. Fowlie had been using social media to plead for help in locating her. On Wednesday, he revealed that the LAPD informed his family that the case is no longer a missing person investigation but a homicide probe.
In an Instagram post, Fowlie wrote, "Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable."
Fowlie believes that Christina's phone and social media accounts were "compromised" in the weeks before her disappearance late last year. He said whoever has her phone "used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money, and to create a false narrative that she was going 'off the grid.'"
He expressed his determination to share her story, stating, "She was a beautiful person who matters in this world, especially to me." He urged anyone with information about her death to come forward and said the best way people can support him is by telling his sister's story.
According to an LAPD post from December, Christina was last contacted on December 10 via text message, and her last known location was Los Angeles' Koreatown neighborhood.
Fowlie said he will be taking time off social media to process his grief.
