The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has escalated, with Ukrainian drones striking two warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, resulting in significant casualties.
Eight people have been killed and 62 injured in the attacks, which occurred at warehouses in Tambov and Elektrostal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the targeted facilities were used to supply components for drone production and navigation equipment.
The attacks are part of a larger operation by Ukraine, which also targeted locations in the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and Russian-annexed Crimea. The violence is a response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, cities, and communities, which killed 14 people overnight.
Wildberries, often referred to as the Russian equivalent of Amazon, has been severely impacted by the attacks. The company's CEO, Tatyana Kim, described the events as a 'terrible night' for Russia and the company.
The use of drones in the attacks has been significant, with reports indicating that 28 drones were shot down on approach in the Tambov region and 48 in the Moscow region. The incident has been described as the 'largest and most inhumane' attack on the Tambov region, with widespread damage and casualties.
