Ving Rhames, best known for his role as Luther Stickell in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, experienced a medical emergency on Wednesday when he collapsed at a Los Angeles restaurant.
According to a witness at the scene, the 66-year-old actor was dining with his family when he suddenly fell at his table. Paramedics were called and transported him to the hospital. A spokesperson for the L.A. City Fire Department confirmed that a call came in at 1:40 PM for a male in his 60s, who was then taken to a local medical facility.
Initial reports indicate that Rhames was in and out of consciousness at the restaurant. However, a representative for the actor later told TMZ that he had been released from the hospital and was heading home, feeling fine and even joking as he left. The representative speculated that the collapse may have been due to overheating, but Rhames was kept under observation as a precaution.
Rhames has appeared in all eight "Mission: Impossible" films and is also celebrated for his roles in Quentin Tarantino movies and other high-profile projects. Further updates on his condition are expected.
