Captain Callum McGregor insists Celtic still hold the advantage in the Scottish Premiership title race, despite trailing leaders Heart of Midlothian by three points with five games remaining. The reigning champions sit third, two points behind Rangers, but McGregor's confidence remains unshaken.
"For us, we've been here over the course and we know how to win," the midfielder said. "We know that we have to stay calm and follow the process and train well — then it's five hurdles to get over."
Celtic host Falkirk on Saturday, while rivals Rangers welcome Motherwell and Hearts travel to Hibernian for the Edinburgh derby on Sunday. McGregor emphasized that past success alone won't secure the title: "You won't just win it off experience alone; you have to earn the right to do everything you can to be champions."
Reflecting on a turbulent season that saw two managerial changes and a nine-point gap to Hearts at one stage, McGregor praised interim boss Martin O'Neill. "He's pulled the club back together when it was fractured," he said. "He's getting a tune out of the players. If we go on to be successful and win the Scottish Cup too, it states his credentials for the job moving forward. The players are fully behind him."
McGregor remains bullish: "I see enough signs that the team want to win and can do enough to win. I wouldn't be doing my job properly if I didn't think we have the edge."
