President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that a major flood control pumping station in Quezon City could begin operations before the end of the year. The project, aimed at mitigating persistent flooding in the Metro Manila area, is expected to significantly improve drainage and reduce the impact of heavy rains.
During a recent inspection, Marcos noted that construction is well underway, and once operational, the station will help protect thousands of residents and businesses from flood damage. The pumping station is part of a broader government initiative to upgrade aging infrastructure and enhance disaster resilience.
“We are targeting to have this pumping station functional by year-end,” Marcos said. “This will be a big help for our people in Quezon City and nearby areas.”
The project includes state-of-the-art pumps and control systems designed to handle large volumes of water during typhoons and monsoon seasons. Officials are confident that the facility will reduce flooding in low-lying communities while complementing existing drainage networks.
