Rangers Land Devlin on Free Transfer After Hearts Exit

Australian midfielder Cammy Devlin has completed a free transfer to Rangers, signing a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months after leaving Hearts. The 28-year-old described the move as "an absolute honour and privilege."

Devlin spent five years at Tynecastle, making 171 appearances and scoring eight goals. He earned five caps for Australia and was part of their 2026 World Cup squad, though he did not feature in the tournament.

He becomes the third significant arrival at Ibrox from Hearts this summer, following striker Lawrence Shankland and manager Derek McInnes. McInnes, who previously coached Devlin at Hearts, praised the midfielder's consistency and work rate.

"Cammy is obviously a player I know, and I am well aware of what he will offer to Rangers," McInnes said. "His levels of consistency for me were superb, and he is the type of player that every manager wants in his team."

Statistically, Devlin led the Scottish Premiership in tackles per 90 minutes last season. Among midfielders, he ranked second in interceptions, second in defensive contributions, and third in recoveries. Concerns about his passing ability under pressure are mitigated by data showing only four Premiership midfielders completed more accurate passes per 90 minutes than Devlin—one of them being Rangers' Nicolas Raskin.

"With the gaffer coming here and a lot of change happening at the club, it feels like a great time to be coming here," Devlin added. "I am so aware of the size of the club and everything that comes with playing for such a massive football club. To call myself a Rangers player now feels pretty special."
