COS Debuts in Seoul with Futuristic Minimalism: Spring 2026 Collection Blends '80s Tailoring with '90s Simplicity

Fashion label COS has made its runway debut in Seoul, unveiling its Spring Summer 2026 collection in the South Korean capital. This marks the brand's first-ever fashion show in Korea, expanding its global presence after previous presentations in Europe and appearances at New York Fashion Week.

The event was held in a stark, brutalist-inspired venue on the city's outskirts, where designers creatively transformed disused swimming pools into integral parts of the set. Models navigated the space while a unique soundtrack—recorded on the Seoul subway system—filled the air with ambient urban sounds.

Showcasing 40 distinct looks, the collection revolves around a muted color scheme of slate gray, brown, cream, and white, punctuated by occasional bursts of blue and oxblood red. Drawing inspiration from the 1980s and 1990s, the designs emphasize precise tailoring, innovative fabric treatments, and deliberate silhouettes.

Materials range from leather and subtly shiny technical fabrics to textured surfaces and lightweight textiles. Designers incorporated transparent elements and layered fabrics to introduce movement and visual depth across the garments.

In womenswear, the collection merges '90s minimalist aesthetics with '80s tailoring cues, such as structured shoulders. Key pieces include sheer ribbed knits, fluid tailored items, and silk garments enhanced with pleating and draping techniques. Notable highlights feature trompe l'oeil denim crafted from silk and outerwear with exaggerated proportions.

Menswear focuses on refined everyday wear, offering slimmer tailoring and functional details. Outerwear and tonal outfits nod to '80s styling, complemented by suede pieces and leather accessories like sandals and loafers.

The show attracted a diverse array of celebrities, including actors Alexander Skarsgård, Park Gyuyoung, Emma Roberts, and Diego Calva, alongside Korean stars Sohyun Kim, Sooyoung Choi, Shin Haesun, Hong Kyung, Dongwook Lee, Mile Phakphum, and Haoyu Chen. Also in attendance were singers Ella of Meovv, Seungkwan, Mika Hashizume, and Feifei Wang; singer-actor Xiao Cheng; model Irene Kim; artist Jey Jung; and influencers Mayu Kitazawa, Tamu McPherson, Marc Forne, and Sophia Roe.

A curated selection from the collection is now available at the COS Store in SM Aura Premier and through the brand's official website.
