World number two Nelly Korda has taken a commanding six-shot lead at the Chevron Championship, the first women's major of the year, after shooting a second consecutive seven-under-par 65 in Houston.
Playing at Memorial Park Golf Course, the American made five of her eight birdies on the back nine Friday to reach 14 under par. Thailand's Patty Tavatanakit sits alone in second place after a bogey-free 69, while American amateur Farah O'Keefe, Ryann O'Toole, and South Korea's Ina Yoon share third at seven under.
"I just feel really good," Korda said. "I'm hitting it in the spots that I want to, missing it into the spots that I want to."
Korda, 27, is seeking her third major title and her first since winning this event in 2024. She has started the year in fine form, winning the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and posting three consecutive runner-up finishes.
Tavatanakit, the 2021 champion when the event was called the ANA Inspiration, said: "Chasing, leading, whatever — I feel like I'm just glad I have this opportunity to be in the mix."
World number one Jeeno Thitikul, also from Thailand, missed the cut by one stroke after bogeying two of her last five holes. England's Mimi Rhodes also missed the weekend, following her opening 69 with a 78 that included three bogeys and a double bogey in her last five holes.
England's Charley Hull is at two under, while Lottie Woad is at one over.
